Sony has decided to release a sequel to last year’s flagship, which was not protected from dust and moisture (talking about Xperia ZL). Its successor Xperia ZL2, however, will be now (IP58) protected. Firstly, the device will be available exclusively in Japan (end of May), but maybe in the future it will be debut in other countries.
However, that Xperia ZL2’s screen will remain the same as its predecessor – 5-inch Full HD matrix technology, Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and X-Reality engine. The smartphone has become slightly thicker and heavier – 137 x 72 x 10.8 mm and 167 grams (against 131.6 x 69.3 x 9.8 mm and 151 grams Xperia ZL). This is due to the result of protection against water and dust, and 3000 mAh battery (versus 2370 mAh).
Other technical options would include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB with 2.3 GHz clock speed quad-core processor, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory, expandable via microSD with more 128 GB and 20.7-megapixel main camera (as in the Xperia Z2), which can offer 4K-video shooting.
At present it has Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC wireless modules. The operating system is Android 4.4 KitKat.
