Download Windows Media 12 for Windows 10 N and KN
The Windows Media Player has been part of the Windows operating system for a long time, but it is not the default media player in Windows 10. The Groove Music Player is set as the default audio player in Windows 10, while new movies & TV on the default video player.
Microsoft has not actually updated Windows Media since the release of Windows 7 in 2009. In fact, it has lost a couple of useful features, such as support for DVD playback. There are dozens of better media players for Windows 10 and most users have not stopped using Windows Media Player.
Windows Media 12 for Windows 10 N and KN
Although Windows Media Player is offered with Windows 10 Home and Pro editions, Windows Media Player is not present in Windows 10 N and KN editions.
If you are using Windows 10 N or KN and you want the Windows Media Player, you need to download and install the Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N and KN editions.
Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N and KN installs Windows Media Player 12 and some other applications such as Groove Music, Video, Skype and Voice Recorder.
After downloading the Media Feature Pack installation file, run it by double-clicking it and then following the on-screen instructions.
What features are included in the Media Feature Pack?
When you install Media Feature Pack, you get the Windows Media Player, Windows Media Format, Groove Music, Skype, Video, Voice Recorder, support for different audio and video formats and Media Player ActiveX control.
Note that Media Feature Pack is only for N and KN editions and does not work on other editions of Windows 10.
